STANDARD PROGRAM IN KYIV
3 days/2 nights
The 1 st day
- Meeting in the airport or on the railway station by a representative of the tourist agency "SVIT-TOUR". Transfer to a hotel (with a guide).
- Accommodation in the hotel.
- Breakfast, lunch or dinner depends on time of arrival.
City tour (3 hours)
Includes the visiting of functioning St.Volodymyr's Cathedral (built in 1862-1882). Interior mural paintings were executed by well-known Russian artists V.Vasnetsov, M.Nesterov, M.Vrubel and many others.
Imposing Monument to Prince Volodymyr Sviatoslavych, the Baptizer of Kyivan Rus, which stands on the slope of Volodymyrska Hill. From this place the Grand Prince addressed Kyivites with passionate words calling them to convert to the Christian faith.
The Golden Gate (1037) - the principle entry to old Kyiv, was named after Constantinople Golden Gate.
World-famous St.Sophia's Cathedral. Grandiose ensemble, a monument of history, architecture and mural painting of the first half of the 11 th century, belongs to the most prosperous period of flourishing of Kyivan Rus. It was constructed during the reign of Prince Yaroslav the Wise to commemorate his victory over the Pechenegi tribe in 1036.
In 1990 the St. Sophia's Cathedral with the ensemble of buildings in its territory was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
St.Andrew's Church, the gem of the Ukrainian Baroquearchitecture (1749-1754) and the Mariinsky Palace (1750-1755) - masterpieces of world-famous architect V. Rastrelli.
St.Andrew's Descent (Uzviz), the history of the very first street of Old Kyiv.
Meals - Lunch in a restaurant with a national Ukrainian cuisine.
The 2 nd day
Excursion to the world-famous architectural complex Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra (Cave Monastery) founded in 1051 by St. Antonius and Theodosius. The Monastery was the stronghold of Orthodoxy, the centre from which Christianity spread and consolidated throughout Kyivan Rus.
The 3 rd day
A visit to Ukrainian Museum ofFolk Architecture and Rural Life ( Pirohgovo Village). The duration of this excursion is about 5 hours.
